My First Brawl Tournament

March 23, 2008

Well, I suppose the title is an understatement. Not only was it my first Brawl tournament, it was my first playing Brawl ever. Taking that into consideration I’m very happy with how I went yesterday. Keeping in mind that we’re all noobs to Brawl and none of us have any real bragging rights, coming 13th out of 33 Smashers for your first Brawl tournament is nice. I scrapped myself up a 60% win ratio with my feminine Marth and manly Ike and missile spamming Samus.

Overall I enjoyed Brawl, probably not as much as Melee, but I’ve been playing Melee at high level play for 3 or 4 years now. So it’d be foolish to expect Brawl to surpass that already, it has a long way to go.

Throughout the course of the day I used: Marth, Ike, Samus, Toon Link, Bowser, Zelda, Pokemon Trainer, King DDD, and Wolf.

I’d say Brawl is fun. But time will tell if it holds its ground.

Confirmation.

March 20, 2008

Tonight my orders were confirmed. My freeloader via OzModChips, should ship after the Easter weekend and arrive around Tuesday. And Brawl via Play-Asia, which I’m hoping ships today will probably arrive come Sunday-ish.

I’m pumped. Even though I’m taking part in my first Brawl tournament before I even GET a copy of Brawl. It will be hard, since I have no experience whatsoever and knowing how entrenched my Melee skills are I’ll probably find myself playing a Melee style. Playing a Melee style is guaranteed to get my ass kicked out of that tournament in the first few rounds. Woo! Lol.

Apart from that, its just thumb twiddling until Brawl arrives.

Filler Blog

March 19, 2008

As the title states, this is a filler blog. No denying it. But never fear, it was won’t suck as much as those anime fillers, it’ll only suck mildly.

Over the weekend I rented out DragonBall Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for Wii and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for PS2. I decided it was time I caved and tried the new DBZ game with its first online mode.

So I sat down, I played it, I beat “Dragon History” aka “Story Mode”, played a couple of duels and tried online. Now I know this game has a few fans (I’m looking at you Cloud) but I was NOT impressed by it. For the most part it was more of the same that I had experienced in other DBZ games. Although, in its defense, you can ONLY tell the one story so many times and lets face it… after more than six games said story is going to be going somewhat stale. The additional characters really didn’t add anything to the game for me and I felt the online was far too laggy to be any good.

Maybe I didn’t play someone from Australia? But regardless, it was lag-ful.

I’m not going to review it, I’ll give it a quick score of 6.5/10. Nothing special and probably only worth the money you’d pay for it if you are a hardcore DBZ enthusiast.

MGS3:Snake Eater on the other hand is a sure hit, I won’t go into detail because I’d be here for days telling you about all the fun you can have in it. One things for sure, its one of the must play games in the Metal Gear saga… I’d consider putting it above MGS1: Twin Snakes for sheer awesomeness. 9/10.

I’m putting my order in for Brawl + Freeloader in a couple of days so I should have that by mid next week. I’m hyped. My review will be up early April (factoring time to finish the game and write and essay I have to do for University)

See you next mission, blog followers.

Brawl Released. LMX’s Copy Coming Soon…

March 13, 2008

So, the day has come and gone. Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been released in the United States of America.

My copy is probably going to come from Play-Asia next week at the smooth price of $65AU. And then a Freeloader for $45. Then I’ll be seeing you all online.

Until then I’m playing Kingdom Hearts 2 on Proud Mode to kill time.

Have fun Brawling everyone… I’ll be seeing you REAL soon.

Thanks for 2,000 hits. You guys are awesome.

The Inactivity of LMX

March 3, 2008

Where have I been?

Besides gloomily following news of the seemingly never-to-be-released-in-PAL Brawl? Ha! Not a lot really. I got myself a job that consumes time and started back at University this week, so there may be a drop in my blogs activity. I hope you’ll all understand <3 lol.

As well as that I’ve been busy hunting for an audition song for my local theatre companies performance of ” Les Misérables”.

So far I’ve had a hard time pickinga  song, I’ve narrowed it down to stuff like: “Epiphany” from Sweeney Todd, “Kiss The Girl” from The Little Mermaid, and others you probably won’t have heard of from shows like The Last 5 Years, and Tale of Two Cities.

Anyway… auditions are in May so I have to pick a song and learn it. Wootage.

I <3 you all bloggers, never forget it. Haha.

See you next mission
